Exactly. I have been researching this car for over two years now. I have watched my friends take shortcuts and blow apart their engines. This is a long term plan. Right now, I am gonna upgrade to my new pads (stoptech) and turn my rotors, replace my blox lca's with ones that properly position my sway bar (skunk2 or function7), and change the spring rates (550lbs int he front, 380 in the rear. Currently it is 380 in the front and 250 in the rear) to a setup that I like better. Summer time I want to get a gsr trans with a lsd, and a competition stage 2 clutch. All the while autocrossing, tracking and learning how to drive the car better faster and safer.
I know my rough draft is VERY rough and so is the budget, but it is sentimental attachment to this car that makes it hard to sell. I have yet to see one as clean as this. I am the second owner, got it with very low miles, and have literally done every modification myself. I learned what does and doesn't work and this is just my car. If it was a pile, It'd be on CL right now and I would take a loan on something better, but it is mint. I can't just sell it to someone who won't take care of it.
EDIT: The ONLY way I will be getting into a different car is if my dad takes this one. He loves it as much as I do and has told me several times that if I sell it he wants to buy it. So that would literally be the only case I could happily sell it and know it was gonna be in a good home.
