You kids throwing around cash for cars in college! I took out a note on my first Subaru, my payments were like $235/month, I always had money in the bank because I worked when everyone else went on spring breaks, etc. AND I built my credit for when I graduated. It's the only reason I had the credit that was good enough to buy a house when I did. My brother at JMU is doing the same thing, he just bought an 07 IS250. It's definitely worth it to go that route imo..I'm all for not having any debt but when you have 0-little credit history and you're in college it is a smart move to finance something newer that's not going to all of a sudden blow a headgasket or something similar.
