i put together my entire suspension for under $500 but it took time. STi struts/springs (250) , WRX 20mm rear bar (40) and an aggressive alignment (120). it's not a very nice ride but it handles nicely.
if i had to do it all over, i'd definitely still do the rear bar and alignment. however, if the shocks aren't shot (117k is alot of miles though) i'd look at a Whiteline Anti-Lift kit, rear trailing links with Group-N bushings, and in your case see if you can source some sedan front control arms for even more camber and caster. that will keep your compliance overall, but add a nice edge to the handling and really add some front bite. maybe throw in some steering rack bushings too since they're cheap. or you could just do GR-2's, but the bushings are all probably junky now anyway.
i'm currently looking at keeping my STi springs but going to Tokico D-specs (800) since the STi struts are just way overdamped.
