It depends what kind you have. Hoosiers don't need to be heat cycled. You just ride around for 5-10 minutes to knock the new off of 'em and you're ready to go. Kumho's on the other hand do benefit from a heat cycle before you run them in anger. What I do is drive them at freeway speeds for 20 -30 minutes to get them at least warm to the touch. Then you take them off the car and let them sit with no weight on them for at least 24 hours. Not to get into an organic chemistry lesson, but the heat cycling helps the rubber molecules crosslink, which results a stronger more consistent tire.
