kudos on the win over the pens see you next game
Niedermayer could be fit under the cap if they so desired, but I think the cost that Anaheim is going to want is going to be to steep for GMGM. Plus, if he goes anywhere, I would bet it's back to New Jersey.
IRT the Caps trading Semin/Fehr, I don't really see it happening. Maybe they package Fehr along with some other things for an impact Dman at the deadline, but I think the chances they trade Semin are slim to none. They just signed him for another year, and really the only way I can see them getting rid of him is in a trade for Kovalchuk which, while being thrown around in rumors, I don't see happening. Plus, they're playing SO well right now why tinker with chemistry (not to mention Kovy is a UFA after the season).
I think come trade deadline the Caps are most likely to add an impact Dman or/and a forward along the lines of a Jeff Halpern, Ray Whitney, etc (similar to the Fedorov trade a few years ago). Maybe a goalie if Varlamov continues to be plagued by injuries.
