Yeah the non-vtec d-series motors are worthless. You can call me Mike btw 
I'm running a B18B, out of the LS. Nothing amazing but it does the job. Problem with a B-series in a hatch is it puts you in to a swap/unlimited class in pretty much all of racing, I get my 140hp ass handed to me quite easily by some of the crap I have to face. My only option is Honda Challenge H1 (wheel to wheel racing) where I'd pretty much have to get a GSR motor, but that is a few years off so I've got time to figure out what I'm gonna do.
