Supposedly the performance is more than competitive so that's good for Lexus. Might do good things for the brand and at only 500 units (per year?) they shouldn't be embarrassed by not being able to sell all of them.

I was never a fan of the earlier concepts...I'm glad they went wild with it. It is unreserved, but I have to laugh at such backlash given the boring stigma Toyota/Lexus usually gets...isn't this what people have been crying for?

As for the performance, 3.7 to 60 and 202 top end, 9,000rpm 4.8L V10 @ 560hp, but I suspect with traditional Toyota underrating. From what I've read, 500 may be the total run (no qualms with finding buyers, IMO), unless demand is there for more. In the vein of ~300-400 run Ferrari supercars I suppose, but I was expecting the more typical 2-4,000, though the price would have to come down. And as for the price, it is ridiculous, the only real fault I'd slight Lexus with. Japanese Yen conversion = ~413k US, with 375k US being the current estimate (as yet-unannounced).

Again, they haven't been realistic at that price point, IMO, given the brand image. Rumors are abound that it actually possesses Ferrari Enzo-like capabilities, and at 650k-plus, it could be construed as a relative bargain. Lexus never marketed this car as a bargain, however, a la Nissan's GTR; quite the opposite, i.e. utmost in exclusivity. We'll see how it gets on.
