One can of diced tomatos, one can of tomato sauce, 1 clove of thinly sliced garlic (which is a pain in the ass to do, so sometimes i use garlic powder), one shalot chopped up, oregano, pepper, etc to taste. Caramelize the onions/garlic in a little bit of EVOO, add in tomatos/sauce/other stuff and let it simmer while you make the rest of the pasta..easy, cheap, and better than canned stuff
chris just turned me on to making my own sauce as well. i love the idea, but i still haven't done it yet
i never have the ingredients/never go to the store.
