I used them when I tracked my WRX. I would usually tape the leading edges with painters tape as a precaution and never had any fall off. never fell off when i ddidnt tape them either.
its a good idea to wipe the area they go on with quick detailer so they have good contact and dont scratch your paint.
and btw, I made my own by buying a roll of magnetic vinyl and printing out big numbers from a PC to use as a stencil.
