My wife got me an F1 car to do and the guy at the hobby shop suggested all Tamiya paints. It's been so long, I wonder if I'll notice a difference...
thanks! the Tamiya kits are in a seperate league entirely. the quality of the castings, instructions, and decals are extremely high for a mass produced product. Revell and Monogram are very good budget kits or starters but you will have to do bit of massaging to get things smooth and the fitments aren't always right. you also won't see alot of detail in individual parts compared to Tamiya. but, they've come a long way and they are still fun to do.
decals aren't bad, they take one try and you'll get the hang of it. Testors makes great paint for painting individual parts but i like Tamiya spray paints for painting the whole body. you can't go wrong either way.
an F1 car will be a real project with all the spindly suspension arms, ducts and supports. when it's done i bet it will look killer though.
