his response Wrote:How long have you owned it?
I have had the car just since I believe September. My friend John needed money as he was moving into a new house and I liked the car so I decided to scoop it up. I Just haven't had the time or the money to deal with it right now as I have three other vehicles so I didn't think I could deal with it honestly.
Who did the motor swap?
The swap was done by Dave @ lethal injection in Atlanta, GA. He has some Z cars himself and is very familiar with these sorts of cars.
Have you done a leakdown and/or compression test on the motor?
I have not done any tests as the car drives fine and haven't had much of a chance to drive or use it at all.
Has it been dynoÔÇÖd in its current configuration?
Not since I have owned it. It was tuned with the S-AFCII by Dave @ 13psi and I am thinking it should make around 230 horsepower at the rear wheels.
Do you have the parts for the heater installation? If not, do you know what is necessary?
I'm not sure in response to this... I am not a mechanic at all unfortunately I would assume it should be relatively straight forward IE heating parts from the RB motor then possibly fabricate anything needed to mate it to the vehicle
Do you think it could handle a drive from ATL to DC?
It's entirely possible. I drove the car 200 miles in one day and didn't have any issues but DC is a considerable distance. I would think that the car could make it fine but I haven't taken it on any long road trips. The tires are new and very good and that always helps.
Does it have a radio?
A while back the radio was stolen out of the car when the previous owner had it. It does have speakers just no radio in it.
Is the title clean?
Most certainly, yes
Any rust or signs of it?
The only rust on the vehicle is a couple of bubbles on the rear hatch. There are also holes for a spoiler that was on the car that should be filled in (i do have the spoiler still which could be put back on, and i'll include it when I sell the car.
How many miles on the motor?
I honestly have no idea... although I know that the car has been taken care of as the previous owner had the car for 18 years but the motor was swapped in relatively recently.. I couldn't give any particular number.
Does it go through any oil or coolant?
To my knowledge the motor doesn't go through any oil or coolant. I have hardly driven it so I definitely couldn't guarantee anything one way or the other but I haven't noticed anything so it appears to be good!
What condition are the suspension bits in? IÔÇÖm less worried about the shocks than bushings, wheel bearings, etc... The stuff that is a PITA![]()
I wish I were more of a mechanic ha... I can tell you none of the suspension parts make any noise at all so i am confident the bearings and bushings are good. The shocks and springs etc are all pretty new and the adjustable shocks are definitely firm if you want them to be.
What brakes are on it? You mentioned 4-pots up front. Are they from something common? WhatÔÇÖs in the rear?
The 4 pot brakes in the front are the toyota ones which swap directly over.. they are off an older 4 runner I believe. it is a common and quite readily available swap parts wise. The rear is the stock drum brakes.
IÔÇÖm assuming the cabin doesnÔÇÖt stink of oil or gas when driving? I know 240s with original motors tend to, but the RB should hold its stench a bit better![]()
I have a bad sense of smell and I still smell a bit of gas when driving definitely. I had a swapped RB car in the past and it smelled a lot worse than this one. I have never had a Z car which didn't smell unfortunately regardless of what motor was in there.
What kind of fluids have you been putting in it?
When I got the car it had just had an oil change/fluids topped up etc. Since then I've driven about 500 miles tops on the car so I haven't changed anything out since then!
Any idea on the fuel efficiency?
Fuel efficiency seems pretty good. From when I drove it it seemed when staying off boost I was getting high 20s on the highway for sure.
Can you provide some more interior shots?
sure I will link some more pictures at the bottom
What are the tire sizes?
225 50 16 all around falken fk452 on 16x8 wheels
How loud is it? (the quieter the better)
the exhaust after the turbo is 3" with a big resonator on the back as a muffler. It is by no means extremely quiet but it is not very obtrusive at all. A very nice grumble but not too loud.
The paint looks great in pics... Was it repainted? If so, when?
It was repainted supposedly 5 years ago. It;s definitely not a perfect paint job (a couple run spots) but it does look really good even just a foot or so away.
WhatÔÇÖs up with the black hook and front end? Just a style you were going with or are they waiting for paint?
The previous owner, John, decided to paint it like that as he got bored. It is proper professional paint and it looks good, just for styling reasons.
Do you honestly feel this is a vehicle that could be relied on as a daily driver? When I say that, take it with a grain of salt. I commute via bicycle and only drive ~50 miles a week (mostly highway), but I need a car that will start whenever I want it to.
The car definitely starts right away every time. There is no IACV on the car so it won't idle for the first minute or so (you can drive it just fine or if you are sitting just keep the revs up) but it starts up and drives fine every time. I would be quite confident it could go 50 miles a week without breaking a sweat whatsoever.
Are there any other [seriously] interested parties?
I do have a gentleman that told me he may give me a deposit and come and get it this weekend, and another party coming from Tennessee to look at it tomorrow.. otherwise lots and lots of emails and such who I haven't had the time yet to follow up on completely.
a few more pictures... i'm terrible with the camera. The car is not that light it is the color as shown in earlier pics just the fact my photography is pretty bad.
