I've never disassembled one but I imagine that all that is inside of that tube is a flexible wire. The metal tube jacket is likely hardened heat treated steel and it's only there to guard against the heat. So, I doubt you will damage anything internally, but you might crack the tube. Bend it slowly and see how it feels. If it is really stiff and unwilling to bend, proceed with caution. If it bends easily, you'll be fine.
