Well, for regular events, it isn't like this. You can pretty much just walk up and they don't care. But hyperfizzy is special.
Ive been to hyperfest 4 (maybe 3?) years in a row, I only remember paying once, and that was me just spectating the first year. Maybe I forgot, or they forgot or something but I dont remember the other 3 years paying. Last year could have been different as I did help work friday.
