After leaving work at 5am, I ended up waking up around noon and went to get my preorder of GTA4...and wow...I can't remember being so easily distracted by a video game in a LONG time. It's pretty easy to lose a few hours by just riding around and seeing what's going on in the city.
I really like the new targeting and cover systems, but I'm pretty excited about all the little details that seem to make this game so real.
I'll give a quick example, the dating minigame is back in GTA 4...so after taking this girl out for dinner, I decided to liven up the evening by stealing a police car to get home. I failed to note the two cops standing around talking in the shadows until the character was about halfway through his break-in animation.
Anyway, we both pile into the car and race around town trying to dodge the police and I end up wedging the car into an alley where I'm unable to get free. I bail out and climb over the car, only to find my hapless date is out of the car yet unable to follow my lead. The police catch up, and she ends up dying in a hail of gunfile...oops. :lol:
I didn't know if eventually her character would regenerate or not, so I kept trying to call her phone and would only get her voicemail...which pretty much confirmed that she was dead or at least unable to answer the cell.
Then after a few days passed in the game, I ended up getting a phone call from her asking if I would pick her up at the hospital. The funniest part was when she asked me to call her again sometime when we got to her house!
This game is going to be a time-stealer for sure!
