Stories about San Francisco (what I don't like about SF)

on that note maybe you've heard of this bullshit too:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Gathering">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Gathering</a><!-- m -->

groups of "hippies" gathering for peace and love and bartering, etc etc. its a joke. people come to leech off of those who attempt to provide freely and uniformly, with no intent to give back. those that genuinely want to make it work are slowly becoming disenfranchised and leaving. it's basically a bunch of bored suburban kids who think their politics make them special and enlightened.

people love to label themselves something to feel good....kinda like how people buy a prius and recycle their milk jugs and consider themselves "environmentally conscious" while they leave all the lights on in their house 24/7 and keep their house cooled down to 60 degrees in the summer. its all about the instant gratification of a clean conscious no matter how ignorant their true understanding is (aka green man explosion guy)

i think the other thing is that people love free stuff and will make a commodity out of anything. if being a fake homeless guy makes them easy money they'll exploit it. i don't trust anyone on the street anymore for those reasons. i never used to think twice about giving a beggar a dollar, now i look over my shoulder and keep a wide berth. maybe that means i'm naive, i dunno.

i guess the biggest thing i've realized over my few years on the earf is that truly good people are often in places you wouldn't realize and are generally few and far between. you're a good guy Jack and i think you probably really helped that homeless dude but most people aren't like you. don't worry though, for all the shitty stuff you see there is alot of great stuff that happens that you don't hear/see, every day.
