Everyone hears that. What you should do is go to THE BOX O' TRUTH! and see what buckshot will penetrate. Or anything, really. You need to practice shot placement with ANYTHING, so don't think that a shotgun is going to magically know the difference between a wall or a sofa or a bad guy.
I think you'll be surprised, anyway. Maybe if you lived in a brick house.
And the reason I said no children / loved ones is for a call YOU have to make. The whole idea of a shotgun is a fairly wide spread, causing great tissue & organ trauma to multiple places in the BG's body.
If the BG is using your wife/child/grandmother as a shield, you're NOT going to pull the trigger on that shotgun. Probably not going to pull the trigger on anything else either, but still, but definitely not a shotgun cuz then granny's done for.
