The Zombie Preparedness Thread

Ok, so, a zombie outbreak in the future is pretty much a given. Read this to find out a few ways a zombie outbreak could be a very real possibilty.

How would you survive? To help, read this link. Also, Justin pointed me towards this informative quiz on your survival skills.

Alright, so, lets discuss possible means to survive this eventual outbreak; this way, we can all learn something that'll inevitably aid in our survival.

First off, lets distinguish our target. This, is a zombie:



The blood-stained face, staggering demeanor, and seemingly senseless need to kill and feed tip us off to its nature.

Personally, I'd locate the nearest Unimog. Comfortable, near-limitless off-road capability, and badass looking.



If that fails, I'd simply raid the county of one snow plow. Unfortunately, this would limit travel to mainly paved roads, but the giant f'ing plow is a bonus as a zombie-pusher as well as getting burnt out, charred vehicles out of your way. Tough call here.



Obviously, food and guns would be the first stop in my newly acquired vehicle. Here is where I'd like your opinion: what weapons would you choose? I was thinking the perfect trio, a scoped rifle of some sort for the rooftop headshots (as the only real way to kill a zombie is to sever the spinal cord/damage the brain to kill what basic motor functions they have), some sort of sidearm preferably of the .45 caliber with hollow points, and a shotgun as a last ditch close-range resort.







After acquiring all the necessary goods for survival, I'd probably make my way to a sparsely populated area like Alaska where natural resources are abundant and the air is clean of whatever air-borne pathogen that possibly started the outbreak. When there, I'd commandeer a boat and live off-shore for a while until I'd be relatively sure that the zombie wave has passed, then I'd scan the radio channels for signs of other survivors.
