i would also agree the 5 lug setup is to spread out the load on each stud. for instance, my accord only has 4 lugs, whereas the V6 accords have 5 lugs...even with just a 50 or so horsepower difference honda wanted to be sure the studs could handle it i guess. heavy duty pickups have up to 8 lugs i think. considering the weight of a truck and the hauling it may do it makes sense to have more lugs.
