Well, I got an email from Tech support this morning. It was half from-a-person, half-not. It seemed copy-pasted from a variety of documents, but sent by a specific individual.. that's comforting, I guess.
They're going to send me a box with packing material and a prepaid shipping label for warranty care. The initial email evaluation suggests that this should be a warrantied repair, but I won't have final confirmation until their people actually look at the box.
Since this will probably happen again after the repair, I'll probably sell it. I don't want a computer that turns to junk after 6 months.
