Well, I'm months in and I'm so-so. I'm non-complaint with Vista, it is what it is. I'm relatively happy with my component selection, too. As a tool, this machine works very well. It's not quite the blingtastic-awesome box I had in mind... but things rarely measure up.
The display only views properly from a very narrow angle-range and it's not -that- great. It's definitely a step up from my last machine, though, and far beyond passable. I'm constantly getting display driver updates from HP and they always fail... I can't get the NVidia drivers directly, though, because they don't include special button functionality. Lame.
But... I submitted a warrantly claim to HP today. You'll see that I bought the laptop in September and that it is now only January. The hinge has a half inch of slop in it. That really aggravates me. A techie friend of mine says it's relatively normal on aging laptops - I say that's a shit excuse. If you can't make something that lasts more than 6 months (as a laptop) then it isn't ready for release. This machine is probably extra-prone because it's a single hinge with a large range of motion... but I can't imagine it's THAT hard to make one that doesn't royally suck. I'll keep the warranty claim status posted here.

When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.
