FWIW I never noticed that sound in either of my Subies that I can remember, other than the normal tick of the built block. That is pretty normal for that boxer motor though. Twat oil are you running right now? Weight? Dino or synthetic? Even when it was cold as balls I didn't notice any crazy noises on my old WRX.. if it's going away when the car warms up I wouldn't stress over it though.
