I'm glad I started a discussion about weight saving...but this was put in the appearance section for a reason...I don't really care about shedding lbs just looking sexy while driving fast.
For the record, the hood was a piece of crap that had only been held down by a latch and had come up and hit his windshield. Broken and scratched (dude only told me scratched.)
There are many companies that make both fiberglass and true carbon fiber hoods.

Quote:The misconception is that they are actually carbon fiber. They are actually just a thin layer of cf for looks, layed over fiberglass. So if you can get a fiberglass version for cheaper, it is much better from a cost/performance ratio.

Quote:if it'll reduce 30lbs then you have a pretty hefty stock hood Smile if so, i stand corrected. for a honda, it reduces minimal weight. There is no such thing as minimal weight. Every ounce you can remove from the car adds up. But you probably wouldn't purchase a hood that wasn't a lot lighter than stock.
