my point is that the oil takes a lot of abuse on track where heat and pressure is much higher than that seen in everyday driving. this can cause the oil to break down and not be as effective in lubricating parts.

Not according to Blackstone, at least in my car with Mobile 1 and a big ass Motocraft High Flow Filter. They saw almost no different in 1,000 track miles and 3,000 highway miles. In fact they thought I sent them brand new oil after almost 1,000 track miles.

well, i got a blackstone analysis on the oil that i changed out 1500mi ago. the previous change had about 3500 miles on it including only one track weekend. the readings came back okay except it had a high lead content. the thrust bearings on 99 and some early 2000 miatas have been known to fail and in fact my car had its engine replaced like 50k miles ago under warranty for that very reason. the blackstone report said to change it for every track weekend but i've usually been doing it by either two track weekends close to each other or one track weekend and one stint of daily driving for a month or two (as i have the past few months which is why i revived this thread).
