Not really... In order for oil to "heat up and break down" it has to get really hot - over 300 *F hot. Oil pressure in the engine should be the same as going to work.
If you want to change it, go ahead but you're not hurting anything by leaving it alone. You should get an oil filter wrench (the type that fits on the end of the filter and you turn with a socket wrench) - makes taking the filter off much easier.
