my point is that the oil takes a lot of abuse on track where heat and pressure is much higher than that seen in everyday driving. this can cause the oil to break down and not be as effective in lubricating parts. the filter is a mechanical means of catching loose particles. i'm sure heat and pressure will affect it, but it probably wont degrade the filter nearly as much as it would the oil that sloshes around a crankshaft that spins at 7k rpms for 20 min at a time
