That's really good insight into what the scene used to be. PVD is still one of my favorite DJs after all the years I've listened to trance. His Global Underground best hits CD with the DVD extra is such a great album to listen to on road trips... especially if you have an in dash DVD player like my younger brother does.
I'm no expert at electronic music, but more of an enthusiast. I agree with you also John that from a technical standpoint, the harder-hitting EDMs tend to create some of the most talented DJs. LTJ Bukem, Aphrodite, Sasha & Digweed (I still have that Northern Exposures album around somewhere heh)...shit, I even saw a smaller set of D&B DJs come into JMU when I was a freshman called Ming & FS who did some of the most unbelievable beatboxing I'd ever heard. I'm talking like rivalling Rhazel; beatboxing hip hop is one thing, but beatboxing drum and bass is ridiculous!
I think what draws me to KSky's stuff is her incredible use of vocals, transitions, and energy that invades your head when you listen to her music. Did you see that she's going to be releasing a vinyl on Armin Van Buuren's "A State of Trance" record label pretty soon?? I'm stoked she's doing so well... I really hope she gets a show solidified on the east coast (every one has fallen through so far) so that I can see her live and try to put a ring on her finger. *cough* er yeah... :lol:
