I think you would be surprised how easy a subaru engine is to work on. Being a heavy engineering company, they have really made a lot of things easy to work on. Even things like oil filter placement are very well thought out (as opposed to my miata which has a bunch of crap under the filter so oil just goes all over it)
Plugs are much easier than you would think. not 4 minutes, more in the neighborhood of 30. And since they are pratinum I only have to do it every 60k
