- you won't drive it in the winter, why bother with AWD. it's not like you'll be launching the car at every light anyway.

Agreed! And:
- Engine on wrong end
- Too expensive to track, too expensive to just tool around in
- Then you'll have to have conversations with other Porsche owners about their precious babies and all the little nit-picky differences and little tiny upgrades they've paid someone else to do for 10x what they should cost and why the 993 is slightly better than the 997 1/3 or the XXX super tool edition or why theirs is better than the BLAH BLAH BLAH SHUT THE HELL UP. I've overheard and even been stuck listening to these "enthusiasts" and it is PAINFUL. Either you'll become one of them (a dick), or have to avoid them.

I liked the idea of an older Porsche, at least it'd have some style. Or what about a Boxster? Those at least seem like a better value, they look better (IMHO), are said by many to be a perfect sports car, and at least the engine is in the right place! And most Porsche owners are so conceited and blind that they don't even consider it good enough (expensive enough) to be a real Porsche, so then you don't have to be sucked into their sad little club.
