Then dont do that? If your SO cant be supportive of what you enjoy, then maybe its not the right girl? I'm sure the peanut gallery will pull out the terminally single commentary, but the last long term GF I had (3 years) I never had that problem...
I imagine that being involved in motorsports brings a lot of type-a personalities in, so this is probably a skewed audience to begin with to ask that question.
