More Chrysler Woes

The Dodge dealers here in SD are a bunch of crooks - they have a $9-13K SRT program dealer fee on all of their SRT cars. I suppose they're trying to bank on ill-informed sailors coming back from deployment with a bunch of cash to sink into a car that's going to have little residual value when they drive it off the lot and whack them with 13%+ financing. While I acknowledge these said sailors aren't the brightest of the bunch, shame on the dealers for taking advantage of them...

Why is it crooked to mark up a car above sticker price? A fee is simply a premium markup. Why is that a bad thing? If you have a product that you think will sell at X price, then why not set it at that price? The Fed requires the MSRP be stamped on the car, which it is, then the dealer can adjust the price to whatever the market will bear. The key here is WHAT MARKET WILL BEAR. If someone is willing to pay a price for a LUXURY item such as an automobile the seller of said item cannot be considered crooked for doing so.

Also, what a random thing to "suppose." Why would you assume that there is such a limited target market for SRT cars? That's like saying Trojan is trying to take advantage of highschool girls because they raised the price of rubbers. The girls still want the rubbers...they will pay the price, and so will everyone else. Even if they were doing military specific advertising your statement would still not make sense. People in the military are not morons, if they buy any car its because they want it and if they accept the terms of the transaction then it is on them, not any dealer or any make, for their decision. Shame on you for a random statement.
