I think the guy thought that he and his wife had eaten weed that was laced with something else. He probably knew you can't OD from pot, but unfortunately he was too much of a noob to know that eating an entire quarter of marijuana between he and his wife is going to fuck them both up REAL bad and probably make them feel like they're on some other drug.
Poetic justice imo. I'm glad the guy doesn't have his job anymore, but I'd prefer him to face some kind of legal action.
