Don't most of the console makers take a hit on the console and only make money on games? If that is the case it is in their best interest to keep throwing games at the system. Also, because a consoles hardware is "static" I would say it would be easier for other game companies to keep devoloping and improving games. whereas with a pc, the hardware is much more "fluid". I would think it is easier to keep making games when you the hardware will be the same for a good number of years (how long was xbox around before 360 came out) versus making games in an environment where the technology is constantly changing.
