Howto build an AI car (again)

Made a little more progress today,

Had to weld a strip on this end so the metal could overlap, originally I thought I was going to do a butt weld on it but after looking at the other car it's a lap joint w/ spot welds, oh well, just took an hour or so.



Fit is near perfect on both sides,



Using the straps to pull it up nice and tight, once I have it where I want it I will tack the bottom and top of both ends then get to work.


Have to pull it back apart one more time and insert this into the frame rail,



Just some scrap metal I welded into a box shape, this will sit inside the frame rail and allow me to not only do a butt weld but also a lap joint w/ spot welds, frame should be plenty strong. I will pull everything apart one more time, remove all the green/white paint from the welding areas then spray everything down with weld though primer where I won't be able to get paint at once the welding is complete.
