My guess is that for a racing motor, there's probably a dry sump part number. Take of old pan, bolt on new pan, done. Was probably designed with a dry sump in mind, and then just "converted" to a "standard" wet.
I am also surprised to not see direct injection on this motor. Odd, don't you think?
