I've never told someone that I didn't at least have met once to go fuck a rope yet I've been banned.

I don't know what you said last week but from what I heard you didn't deserve to get banned and the person who banned you didn't own up to banning you. I disagree with this and that is an issue that we will have to to deal with. At any rate, I'm not talking about when people who know each other joke on each other.

and fyi your censorship on this issue tells me that you think MM is actually a CULT... much more then my passion for our traditions.

MM is a club that is now big enough that there are plenty of people who have never met. When you do certain things with people you've never met that you do all the time with your friends there is definitely going to be acrimony. Especially when it stems out of a disagreement over something.

Of course we're not always going to see eye to eye but we can disagree without being disrespectful or downright attacking people.

Gerald, you can't really have a double standard like that if you want to put forward a face that any new people wouldn't be turned away from (as that seems to be the complaint I keep hearing). Joe Schmoe Freshman doesn't know RJ or I, and therefore wouldn't know when I make some off-hand comment about his mom/sister is just a joke between two friends. If you're going to censor content because you think that it might portray the club in a bad light to potential new members you're going to have to censor all content along those lines.

Moderation doesn't mean we have to lock everything down. As RJ said there is a happy medium where we can keep the playful banter that characterizes the group without berating or ridiculing the younger guys, new people who come on the forum, or people who don't know each other in person. Moderation by its very nature is a judgement call. I think if we have guidelines we can be more fair in making them. I don't think it will need to be at a point where every unkind word gets deleted but dropping C-bombs on people is obviously over the line.

Like I said eariler, I'm not going to go back and forth with anyone on this, I've said my peace and if you guys intend on making this place a hard a$$ mod controlled forum you will have one less person to moderate, maybe that's what you want, then you can get the flood of n00bs in each semester and turn this place into JMU Yo Boy central.

This place doesn't need to be a hard ass moderated forum but it also doesn't need to be a hard-ass-you'll-get-flamed-anytime-someone-disagrees-with-you forum either. And just like I said, how is a n00b ever going to join in what we do if they get flamed into oblivion for just plain not knowing? Sure, some people are always going to be show and shine ricers and the club is not for them. But there are plenty of people that are more than happy to join in what we do given the chance. Maybe they're not going to be running out to get their race license next month but some people have grown into the community rather than coming in ready to mix it up at the track. Hell, several of you weren't into autocrossing and track days when you started out with MM but people didn't cut you down.

Chad I know one of your issues was that someone who is not into motorsports should not be president of a motorsports club, and I agree. The officers of the organization should be aligned with the goals and mission of the organization. Now from the looks of who is running we should be ok.

I know some of this is out of a genuine desire to not see the club get corrupted and lose its character but the way to achieve that is not through hate and negativity.
