Hello MMotorsports guys.

I'm a member who just joined two days ago. I've been posting about a car that Just bougt E30 that is a junker.

I won't be able to attend many events, and will probably be an outlier to your society. My involvement will be small, while my need for help, input and knowledge is great.

The forum has been welcoming to me. The club guys that I know (Peter, Channing, Shaun) are great guys and fun to hang out with.

I've even got an offer for a free or traded removable racing steering wheel for my BMW already. Two days folks. That's awesome.

Here's something interesting. Folks who have been to races, think that it's great fun. I tend to agree. I raced a Prelude one time and came in last in the group. Still fun.

Someone who is new to the club might find it intimidating, or just WAY to far down the road to think about right now. Most of the reason people join clubs is for friendship and fun. I've had more fun working on cars for hours with friends, making parts for cars, painting parts, brainstorming, planning, and talking about cars.... than I have at a racetrack. In fact, I think you'll all agree that you work on your car for 10 hours for every hour at the racetrack.

The forum gives me a place to goof off at work or between classes, talk about cars, and then make plans to work on them. The forum is no more hostile than fark.com or any other website that has a forum "feel". Even the southern flyfishers forum, or the jeepin.com forum, or the quadratec.com forum can be hostile. Try going to the reddrumtackle.com forum and asking "how's the bait situation down there at the beach this week". They will explode with fists of internet fury.

However.... when the MMsports folks all become friends you are quicker to say.... you will surely die, or your idea sucks you moron. It's a thing that FRIENDS can do. This is a forum FULL of that, and newbies might be intimidated if they don't realize what's going on with the teasing.

Lightening up might be a good idea.
Inviting new members to come over and work on cars is a good idea.
Making friends with new members is a better idea.
Encouraging new members is the best idea.

Also, dont' worry about the alum. They are old and they're getting a little senile.
