Current students-Please air your grievances

Current students don't post on here because I think they naturally feel detached from the club. They are all freshmen, who don't have their cars with them, and as freshmen I'm sure they have more "important" things to do than spend weekends at the track. You and I might see it differently, but its up to them to decide what they want to do. IMO we have always done a pretty good job of doing a good presentation at the first meeting, telling them what we're about and how to get involved.

But we're not going to become their parents or play good cop bad cop with them, if they choose not to participate, even after a little pressuring here and there, thats their choice. We always tell them that we always have rides available to any and all events, it couldn't be easier to get involved, but they largely don't. Traditionally this is the type of club where you get more involved as you get older anyways.

Also I'm sure drama like this scares them off. When people are new to a club they want to feel welcomed, they don't want to be dissected and ridiculed over years old pent up emotions. In each and every "hey everybody I'm new here" thread involving a new student, there has always been at least one negative remark or deriding comment. I think we should all just chill out.
