I was able to score some passes for the "press release" of 300 last night. I obviously won't give away any spoiler-type info since it hasn't come out yet, although if you paid any attention in history class you will already know what happens anyway. Going into the movie I was really concerned that all the good parts would have shown up in at least one of the trailers, but I'm happy to report that that is not the case what-so-ever. Visually the movie was amazing, the fight sceens were spectacular and you can really see the influence of Frank Miller's comics. that said, I feel that because I knew going into the movie that all of the backgrounds were computer animated was slightly dissatisfying. Granted, they all looked great, but it would have been more impressive if some of it was actually real. I guess, if they had been real then I would have been really impressed with the cinematography, but knowing that it was all created artifically was king of a let down. That is not to say that I appreciated the kind of work that went into creating all those scenes. Also, I don't know if it was the particular theater's screen or not, but I did detect a little fuzzi-ness between the actors and the backgrounds. Regardless, I'll probably see the movie again this weekend this is one of the few movies I have no problem paying for.
