Electrical Guru's~ Headphone jack??

Well because you have tip ring and sleeve it sounds like its a stereo jack, so I think the configurations is:

Tip: left channel
Ring: right channel
Sleeve:ground

I would assume the red wire would be the tip/left/positive line and the black wire would be the ring/right/negative line. The bare metal line is the ground.
