I'm still torn on this. I want to auto-X the minivan. So the plan is to lower it about 3 inches and 5-speed it. I also have a larger turbo to put on it.
So, reasons for the swap-
1. Handle the riggors of an autocross
2. Last more then two weeks without a problem
3. Get more out of my boosts (higher revs)
4. Handle the extra power of the larger turbo and the upped (14psi) of boost I plan to run on the street.
5. Better fuel economy when I want it
6. Less worry about towing...actually no worry about towing.
7. Face it...the coolness factor goes up by X10
Reasons not to do it
1. The remote start issue (though I think I may have designed a device to get around this problem)
2. Gonna cost about as much as it would to fix the auto again
3. Shifting all the time
4. One tire fires...
5. Engine will stall "from time to time" at low RPMs because it will be hard to find the proper ECU for the swap, I will need to have one made.
6. Will require and additional toggle switch for the cruise control to function.
7. Oh, and the hideous shifter will make it impossible for me to keep my super cool floor console!
