Thanks Adam, i'm going to take a deeper dive into Car-part when i get a minute. What kind of facility can do a crank grind-down? i had never even heard of it before. i'd love to put stronger rods in it for the price of a used stock shortblock.

i could do a N/A V6 or TT V6 swap but it would cost thousands, and i want nothing to do with either motor anyway. i gotta stick to the 1.8. there's also the fact that i need this car back on the road, stat. the explorer is a ticking time bomb as far as i'm concerned.

i was looking at those too! unfortunately i don't think they have any 1.8's at all. there are tons of VW/Audis down here so these yards are picked clean of most all new stuff
