Do you find you require name brand toaster pastries? i.e. Pop Tarts?
Personally, I have discovered that the Food Lion brand of "poptart" actually holds up better in the toaster, and tastes better as well. The pastry/crust part isn't so sweet, and allows the filling to fully display its subtle spectrum of flavors, which would otherwise be overpowered by the sweet, but overpowering crust.
