In all fairness... it might, and it might not. Like Mike said, on an interference motor it's nothing to take chances with.
Mine is non-interference, I don't think Rex knew that when he brought up timing belt replacement that last few times that I have seen him.
Feersty, I was sure that the SVT motor *was* an interference motor. I could be wrong though.
