I'm about to go on a road trip and was wondering about what sort of power inverter to get? What do you guys know about them? What brands/models do you guys own and like?

I bought one at target, cost me about $45. It wasnt in the automotive section, or the electronics section.... so you'll have to dig around for it, and none of the employees will know what a power inverter is
![]() I've used it on a few road trips now (I originally bought it for this trip - http://mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2284) and its really nice to have

costco has a 1500watt one for like $120 that will run pretty much anything you want. I watched a guy use it and the craftsman impact wrench.
I just have a little cheap 300 watt one to run my laptop on long trips.

Mine is a "Mobile Gear" brand, white/yella box. Dont know the wattage on it.
If you need one just for one trip you're welcome to borrow mine. If you need it this weekend let me know ASAP, I am heading over to Gerald's place tonight and flying out at 6am tomorrow.

Last time I checked, a cigarette lighter doesn't usually have a 125A fuse on it. And that's assuming the inverter is 100% efficient. :?: Am I missing something?

ah. game on. But I bet the alternator wouldn't be keeping up at that rate!

Ive been thinking about getting one of these as well. So is ~300 watt enough to power pretty much any in-car gear?
maybe Ill get the 1500 watt and power a little air compressor at the track

400 Watts is the mininum for Laptops.
Google power inverters, there's a couple of FAQ sites for inverters.
