I don't deny that, but you've gotta have some money to do it right it seems. I'm kinda toying with the idea of getting one... I need some heavy AWD and boost

Hawley's car was a bitch to autox. Its heavy, front heavy, understeers, heavy, the shifter sucks... and well, you get the idea. Last I drove it I think it had somewhere around 350 hp.
If you took some serious weight out and put a real suspension on it, it might be worthwhile.

The shifting isn't a problem if you replace it with a B@M...replace the linkage bushings on the tranny with rollerblade bearings, and replace the shifter plate bushings with the 'symborski' set. My shit feels good now...

Chris had a short shifter, but didnt replace anything else - it was just real heavy, notchy and not precise at all.

If your interested in a awd dsm, we can find a parking lot and you can play a little bit with my car. I am on the stock turbo, slipping clutch, but itll give you an idea. I love my shifting, I have a B&M short shifter and symbyorski shift kit. Goddamn, the shifts are so well definied ytou cant even wiggle the shifter back and forth in gear.

lol one of the many needs. Mostly i need MONEY! I have a big16g im throwing on right now (sitting in my dorm room till I get oil feed line) Green turbo is too shitty lag for autocross, id rahter have something real responsive. Right now I really wont be able to use the 16g as I dont have fuel pump or any tuning device, but I got the turbo for a really good price so I couldnt pass up the deal.

I'm already debating on switching to an 18g myself.

I am getting really frustrated tho with money. I wanted to do my dsm right, as in everything top dollar for fast as hell straight, but im getting impatient. I have an eprom ecu and stuff to go dsmlink and fpr and 255, but im debating on just settling for high 12s by just selling the eprom, buying an s-afc, egt or wideband, 190 fuel pump and then all the rest would be towards suspension and lightening up components on my car...

i know its tempting because DSM's are easy to make fast but i'd do whatever you can to make it reliable and then get yourself as much driving experience as possible (karting, auto-x, etc.)
i take for granted the fact that my car starts every morning, every time. if it's your only car you def. don't want to deal with too much down time!

i wasn't picking on DSM's. i was pointing out that modding your car with parts you didn't exactly plan on can be risky. that also doesn't imply D_Eclipse doesn't know what he's doing, im just saying.
i like DSM's, actually. if i had space i can totally see myself with a starion or 1g project.

other cars don't blow up motors quite as easily, that's the thing.

honda challenge H1 cars dont have stellar reliability records, and they arent even built much at all. the one team that does build their engines heavily goes through a few of them a season.
