I'm sure you could!
You'd better call up some Yammy dealerships and get on the list, they're only making 500 of em.

The color scheme. i remember it as being black checkered on yellow, so no fly on the crazy taxi reference.

Welp, there's good news and bad news Kaan. The bad news is that the R1 LE is $18000. The good news is that the MM paint scheme also comes on the regular R1 for only a few hundred dollars more
As an added bonus, the all new R6 comes in the special scheme too:
Its $1000 more expensive this year but its got a slipper clutch, more power, less weight, and some other goodies. Its obviously an attempt by Yamaha to kick the competition into submission and raise the stakes in the Supersport 600 class.
Between the R1 LE and the new R6 I think Yamaha is going to touch off a war between the manufacturers for increasingly specialized and expensive sport bikes in a battle for supremacy. Not that wasn't going on already but the battle has been getting particularly heated lately...

Kaw. has the areo down... they'll work on weight and power... alone with "goodies."
Suzuki will NOT let anyone out power them... look for under engineered high horse power... *note their brake issues from the early to late 90s.*
Yamaha is going to have to bring the prices down to compete eventually... Suzuki has always been high and people who dont know bikes know "gixxer"...
Honda needs to get their asses in gear again. they are always under powered, always gas hogs... the only "real" thing honda ever had going for it was they were VERY rider friendly.
------ no proof of any of this really... just personal opinions on how this war will escalate in the next couple of years.

Honda will need to shed some poundage on their bikes. The 600rr is already weighs about 20 POUNDS more than the other "big four" 600s. When the companies are fighting over cutting ounces off their bikes Honda is still dealing with an underpowered bike weighing significantly more than the competition. This comes from Honda's philosophy of making street bikes for track use not the other way around.
And the R1LE is priced so high you could almost buy all the add ons and do it yourself for cheaper...but that requires time and skill so I think they are catering to the ready made I've got money and want a high end biek right now.
Just my .02

Eh?
2005 Dry Weights
GSX-R 600 - 354.9 lbs
YZF-R6 - 357 lbs (note: this is the 2006 R6S and R6 weight)
CBR600RR -361 lbs
ZX-6RR - 362 lbs
In most of the comparos for the 05 it was either the best or a close second in lap times to all the other 600's. Of course that doesn't mean much because I'm sure this year the new GSX-R600 and R6 will leapfrog it.
I guess you were talking about the 03-04's which were 9 lbs heavier. The 1000RR is the real porker though, I'm interested to see how much they were able to drop for the 06 update. At least on the racetrack it hasn't faired too badly.
You and Kaan are right though, Honda does emphasize ridability over outright nasty performance, to their detriment at times.

I think the point of the special edition was to give R1 fans something special (and collectable) that has all the good bits on it... and to make a bike that would have a significant advantage in Superstock racing. You'd best believe some of these are gonna show up on the AMA grid next year

i would just like to say... that the higher prices on "new" bikes... has pushed the 5-7 year old bike prices way up. there is no way in hell someone should be paying 5.5k for a 2000 GSXR600 with 20k on the clock... NO WAY. well i blame the new bike prices and the gas prices all at once... fuck i wish i had 4 or 5 bikes i was sitting on to just sell now... its damn near the end of the season and they are still up in price... hell in may you could have got that GSXR for 3.5k... /rant

Retro paint scheme pillaged from Yamaha's 70s/80s 2-stroke GP bikes... also seen on the Kenny Roberts-replica RZ350 of the the mid 80s. The RZ500 and RJ's FZR have red/white, red/white/blue versions of that design scheme.

When I bought my CBR 600 F4i (Honda) in 2004, I rode the R6 and the GSX 600rr or whatever. I didn't ride them on good turny roads, but the speed was darn near the same. I mean, what' the difference between a 3.4 sec 0-60 and a 3.2?
What sold me was the comfort. The F4i (vs. the RR) was much more comfortable (realitivly speaking) than the other two. It cost more, but it holds its value and I don't cramp (as much) after a 3 hour ride.
