how my dad became a car enthusiast

My mom is more of a car enthusiest than my dad is. She fell in love with the Protege5 she had, and now that she owns a Mazda 6 Wagon she misses how nimble the Protege was.

My parents have always been the one car, one truck kind of family. My dad will never give up his trucks, but he bought a Harley this summer, and is madly in love with the power and grace of such a large beast. :twisted: They have been dedicated to VWs (as was I growing up) but we may have them convinced to get a Subaru as their next vehicle... the only problem is that my dad doesn't like the styling. Only time will tell.

either the 2003 TL or the 2005 (? I think) will take premium.

yes he needs lots of power for "merging" on the highway.

I'm sure the seats are very good- its an Acura and their interiors are always very egronomic.

My story is more along the lines of "how my dad became a car UNenthusiast". I can remember back to a time when my dad had a dodge charger?challenger? one of those with the engine coming out of the hood, it was metallic blue and had the big back wheels. Re: 70's hot rod..probably had a hemi or something like that. I dunno if he took it drag racing (too young to remember), but I know before I was born he and his friends spent many a weekends getting drunk and camping out at the races. That was before Nascar went Uber-redneck.
Now he drives a nissan truck and his "midlife sports car" manifested itself as what is now our horse farm. But he still works on cars, so maybe he'll get back into it one day. Big Grin

guess I'll share too. My dad hates working on cars and doesn't really care what he drives. He and his brother used to be into it when they were our age (I still rag on my dad for selling his Jag for a wedding ring), but his brother stayed in it and my dad decided it was a waste of time. Somehow I ended up with my uncle's passion for cars and my dad's hatred of working on them. :?
