The backup of the DB is the only real consideration. The phpbb files only need to be backed up when the site design is alerted or the forum install is patched. How much bandwidth full db backups take is another consideration - phpbb db is 300 mb, wordpress is another 200. Monthly backups are probably sufficient imo.

Could just do a differential backup so you're not sending the full db size over the intertubes every time you back up. But yeah, maybe something regularly scheduled but basic would be the ticket. Don't want to overengineer a backup solution.

Was the domain transfer just a precaution so that something bad does not happen down the road? Or did the Russians do something weird with it?

It wasn't "owned" by anyone in MM, thus we had no control over it.

Now it's in my name, I like all you guys, and we have full ownership of the domain name so this won't happen again :thumbup:
