Sears Holiday Sale
#1
So, every winter for some reason Sears takes 60% off some tools and tool sets. Last year I got a 409 piece tool kit for $195. Here are a few that I've found this year.

1. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00931305000P?sid=IDx20070921x00003c&srccode=cii_10043468&cpncode=18-104286128-2">http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00931305000P?sid=IDx20070921x00003c&srccode=cii_10043468&cpncode=18-104286128-2</a><!-- m -->
$89 Cordless impact, nicad battery and charger included but you can get a li ion for $30. c3 system so you can use the battery on other stuff. It's gotten good reviews outside of sears.com, and is better than the Great Neck/Good Year that everyone buys for the same price.

On the impacts: I had the Goodyear for about 3 years...came with 2 batteries and a case. I currently have the Northern Tool (cheap) model, been using it for 3 years, it also came with 2 batteries and a case. The clip that holds the sockets on the impact has broken so I am hopefully getting the Sears model for Christmas. I will probably still buy another NT version just because it was cheap, held up well under extreme use, I will need another for the trailer and I will have extra batteries for that one. A friend has the Sears model and he loves it.

I just bought the Reversable Wrenches in metric. Nice find!

nice deal on the cordless impact, im in need of one so im picking it up.
does the nicad charger work on the lion batery though?

dont touch the flex head wrenches though, I have them and they suck. The heads dont lock in place so you cant put any torque on them
Craftsman has a version that locks that is much better.

I have the Great Neck NiCad impact gun, which I assume is probably the same thing as the Goodyear. It's ok, but basically there are times when I need it to spin off things that are not held in place or have really long bolts, such as ball joints or spring compressor nuts, input flange nuts, or rusty bolts, and it's terrible for that. It works pretty well at removing wheels that are properly torqued, but if the nuts were blasted on by someone with an impact gun it won't even do those. The battery doesn't last long under heavy stress and it's pretty weak even with a full charge. I have air now so I'll probably just get an air powered gun instead and keep using the battery unit on the road.

About the dual charging, I looked into that. Craftsman has a c3 charger that charges both types of batteries, but I'm not sure if that's what comes with the gun. Here it is:

I just cancelled my order on the flex head wrenches. Thanks for the heads up. I'll get the Craftsman brand set next time I have a spare $150.... My god ratcheting wrenches are pricey.

The locking heads on the flex head Craftsman wrenches help out a lot.

If you're willing to wait for a real deal on them, Sears used to have an early opening special where you can get 10-40 dollars off any item in the store if you're willing to wait in line at 5am.
