I once drove my car 3500 miles without changing my oil :?
Course, I knew I wasn't gonna be able to change it soon, so the last 1000 weren't driven as hard as usual.
My determination of a bulletproof engine is something that you can continuously mod it to incredible amounts with only nominal improvements to the block/head to ensure its ability. Hence the reason why I don't worry about my car that much, I've got the same block as the GTE, and they have been pushed up to 800 hp on the stocker before it failed (I don't think I have anything to worry about any time soon).

3500? That's not too high. I've been higher unfortunately, but not without adding a quart for a little extra safety.

If you are using synthetic, you are probably throwing out perfectly good oil at 3500 miles anyway.

ohho yeah, I shoot for like 10k with synthetic with a street car. If I could afford to go to the track more frequently, only then would I think about doing it at less than 5k.

Or even 10,000.

If you use expensive PAO-based synthetics, you can probably go 20,000 or more highway miles without a change.

RJ - who still changes synthetic @ 2500 mile intervals...

track use is harder on the car, the elevated oil temps warrant shorter drain intervals.
I changed mobil 1 on the WRX every 2 track events or 3k miles, whichever was shorter.

Even put in new redline in the tranny every other oil change or 6k miles. Now that got expensive.

Yeah after a track event I change regardless of mileage.
